At Colin Picken Eyecare, our appointment slots are designed to be significantly longer than most. Our core belief is that the quality of care we provide cannot be rushed. Our qualified optometrist is committed to your well-being and uses state-of-the-art equipment to ensure you receive the best care possible.
NHS eye examinations are free in Scotland to all UK residents. However, we need your understanding that every missed appointment affects us and other patients. When an appointment is missed, it results in vacant clinical time that could have been allocated to another patient in need. We do not receive any fees from the NHS for missed appointments. Wages and overheads still need to be paid and the business makes a loss. The overall effect is a financial shortfall for our practice, something we would rather not pass on to our valued customers by raising our prices.
We feel fortunate to have such high demand for appointments at Colin Picken Eyecare. To meet everyone’s needs, we strive to keep waiting times as short as possible. To help us in this, we request that you notify us at least 48 hours in advance if you cannot attend your scheduled appointment. As a courtesy, we can send you a reminder text message and/or email 3 days in advance of your appointment time.
We understand that life happens and plans can change, so we’ve designed a cancellation policy we believe is fair and compassionate. If for any reason your appointment is missed, changed, or cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, a charge will be applied. Upon your first missed booking we kindly request that you settle the missed appointment fee. Once done, we’ll happily allow you to rebook an appointment for which you will not have to pay. However, if this rebooked appointment is also missed, the standard missed appointment fees will be applied to both appointments and will be non-refundable.
